Position Summary:
The Fininshing Drywall Installer (DI) has knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures and builds, applies, or fastens interior and exterior wallboards or wall coverings in residential, commercial, and other structures.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows and leads by example all FOS health and safety policies and procedures and ensures that they are followed by all personnel and sub-contractors.
  • Strives to continually improve through specific development plans.
  • Accepts direction from Supervisor.
  • Practices good housekeeping discipline on the job to ensure a safe, non-cluttered workplace and to minimize cross contamination.
  • Completes assignments on time and within budget.
  • Measures and installs drywall panels to accommodate electrical outlets, air-conditioning units and plumbing.
  • Possesses skills with power and non-power tools to saw, drill, or cut holes in panels for electrical outlets, air-conditioning units, and plumbing.
  • Installs blanket insulation between studs and tacking plastic moisture barrier over insulation.
  • Removes plaster, drywall, or paneling, using crowbar and hammer.
  • Assembles and installs metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways and vents.
  • Reads blueprints and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures and material and tool requirements.
  • Lays out reference lines and points, computing position of framing and furring channels and marking position.
  • Suspends angle iron grid and channel iron from ceiling.
  • Installs horizontal and vertical metal or wooden studs for attachment of wallboard on interior walls.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Fininshing Drywall Installer.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Courses or certifications from trade schools.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance as pertains to drywall work.
  • Skilled at measuring, cutting, fitting and fastening the drywall panels; skilled taper/finisher of drywall panels.
  • Able to complete finishing process after installation by filling joints and imperfections.
  • Able to identify and estimate the quantity of materials needed to complete a job.
  • Accurately estimate length of time and cost of a job.

Additional requirements

  • Willing and able to work on-call for after hour’s emergency work.
  • Willing and able to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
