FirstOnSite Restoration has an immediate opening for an Estimator to join our B.C. team. The incumbent will be based out of the Surrey branch.

FirstOnSite Restoration the largest independent disaster restoration company in Canada. We provide unsurpassed emergency response, restoration and reconstruction services to the insurance industry, residential, commercial and industrial customers. With coast-to-coast coverage and 24/7 emergency service, we offer a wide range of services that remediate conditions caused by fires, floods, winds, mould, environmental hazards, accidents and other casualties at any type of facility.

Position Summary:  

The Estimator supports one or more branches by providing estimating and administrative support activities.  They will work closely with the Project Manager(s) to ensure no slippage in project estimating resulting in a controlled delivery.  The estimator will participate as a team contributor by knowing the required insurance companies, independent adjusters and FOS protocols and will work effectively with team members to ensure that these protocols are implemented in accordance with the stakeholder pre-determined goals.  They will contribute to timely project completion through effective and knowledgeable application of the Claim Trak, Xactimate, Microsoft Office software applications and strong communication skills.

 Estimator Responsibilities

  • Continuously reviews projects to make sure that Customer and FOS KPI’s are being met and either follows up with Project Managers to ensure task completion or if possible completes the task on their own initiative.
  • Ensures that all estimates have been prepared with all related estimate items.
  • Continuously seeks out new methods to improve estimating skills and knowledge through FOS.
  • Follows and leads by example; all FOS health and safety policies and procedures are followed for all FOS personnel and sub-contractors.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager(s) to ensure no slippage in project estimating resulting in a controlled delivery.
  • Support administrative needs of Sales/Project Managers. 
  • System data entry, tracking and updates (Xactimate, ClaimTrak, XactAnalysis).
  • Meets on a regular basis with project stakeholder(s) to provide project updates, share relevant information and plan/initiate actions to advance the project.
  • Reviews data and information generated by the Project Manager via estimating tick sheets.
  • Prepares an associated estimate within 1 business day of receipt.
  • Follows FirstOnSite Standard Operating procedures for data entry.
  • Receives, screens, logs and routes correspondence, attaching necessary background information and maintains follow-up system for action and deadlines.  
  • Interacts with oral/written communication with internal stakeholders, clients/customers presenting a polished, professional impression of FOS.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an office environment.
  • Possess sense of urgency, professional demeanor, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
  • Experience in the insurance restoration industry an asset.
  • Computer skills required – effectively use Word, Excel, Outlook, ClaimTrak and Xactimate.
  • Xactimate certified (minimum Level 1, Level 2 preferred)
