Position Summary

The role of the Painter is to prepare and decorate a particular surface in accordance with the wishes of the client. This will involve working on a wide variety of surfaces, including metal, wood, plaster and stone, and incorporating numerous materials, such as paint, varnish and wallpaper.

The Painter has knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures and builds, applies, or fastens interior and exterior wallboards or wall coverings in residential, commercial, and other structures.


  • Follows and leads by example all FOS health and safety policies and procedures are followed for all FOS personnel and sub-contractors
  • Accepting direction from the Supervisor
  • Reading work orders or receiving instructions from supervisors in order to determine work requirements
  • Following the specific instructions in terms of style, colour and finish
  • Cleaning up properly after a job and maintaining good housekeeping habits during the project
  • Appling paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to equipment, buildings, and/or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers
  • Appling primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years residential painting experience
  • Experienced with work in dangerous environments, negotiating ladders, heights and equipment
  • Grade 12 graduate or equivalent
  • Courses or certifications from trade schools
  • Clean criminal record
  • Able to build relationships with all parties involved in the construction process
  • Good at problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Additional requirements

  • Willing and able to work on-call for after hour’s emergency work.
  • Willing and able to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
